Vet Speed Racing is a non-profit organization for veterans and active duty military. They provide free track therapy and events for our heroes.
Prior to the event, I had the pleasure of speaking to Tony and Kate. I learned more about the mission of the organization and where it all began.
Tony explained with excitement and the most heartfelt desire, that he had recently met a solider, Daniel, who was being med-boarded. He was determined to find a way to get him a custom door for his new car so that he could get in an out of the vehicle with more ease and comfort. The solider's wife bought him a corvette as a retirement gift, in hopes of cheering him up while he was facing new physical battles.
Tony and some of the other guys recently met Daniel when he was at an event with his new car. Tony connected with his story as he had battled his own hurdles --- which led him back to racing and using the track as therapy. He wanted that for Daniel. Kate and Tony made phone calls to manufacturers, sponsors, and many others to make this day a special day for Daniel--and for us all.
The event itself was exciting- who doesn't love watching cars, trucks, and anything else with wheels race on a
track?!
But what made this day even more amazing was to witness the honor, camaraderie, brotherhood, and life-changing donation Kate and Tony presented to Daniel. He was presented with custom doors that will allow him to get in and out of his car easier, as well as the installation. The shock, surprise, and gratitude in his face--- in his body language-- and seeing his eyes amazed, excited, and humbled is a moment that will stay in the hearts and memories of all of us present.
We were honored to be a part of this day. We were thrilled to meet Daniel and so many of the other participants, sponsors, and spectators. We are excited to continue to watch and be a part of such a life-changing mission, vision, and outreach that was started (and operates) from such a genuine place of love, hope, and brotherhood.
Thank you for letting us be a part of this day and the mission.
