How can we thank the people who care for our loved ones? We can start with a great big THANK YOU!!
(Mountain View Nursing Home in Ossipee, NH)
As the doll who writes these thank yous this one means a lot. My Nana is locked down in her nursing home with no family and few friends. She only moved in a few weeks before the lock down happened so this has been stressful on my family. But her home has been amazing putting up pictures on social media showing how much fun the residents are having, some even holding signs telling their families they miss them and are okay. It takes an amazing group of people to come to get her and organize something like this. I hear they are even setting up video calls so everyone can see their families on Mother’s Day.
Nursing home staff are going above and beyond what anyone thought they would do. I can rest a little easier knowing my Nana is in good, caring hands.
(Does't she look like she is having fun??)
I’ve also seen many videos, pictures and post of the families of residents coming together to help. Singing songs out on the lawn, dressing as the Easter Bunny, hosting BINGO, and so much more. They should all take a second to reflect on how much they are helping those of us who don’t live near by. I thank you all for the help in keeping them calm, happy and healthy.
I encourage all our readers to help out too! Send cards or PPE to the staff of your local home or to the one that houses your family member. Thank them for giving our older generation a chance to get through this with a smile on their faces. And maybe throw in an extra generic letter for a resident who doesn’t have any family left. It doesn’t take much to make someone happy, just a little note letting know we are thinking of them.
So again, Thank You to all those who work in nursing homes. You are helping keep people alive and deserve our love and gratitude!!
