This week’s blog features Gearhead member and Clarksville native Tyler Johnson. Tyler was born and raised in Clarksville. His family stretches back multiple generations. He recently graduated high school and turned 18 a couple months ago. I asked Tyler what he likes about being a member of the Gearheads. He said, “I like the variety of the local car scene. I think the Friday Night Meets have more imports and a younger crowd whereas, Cars n Coffee is for old school muscle and an older crowd.”
Tyler’s car, Sebring which is what he calls it, named after its stunning Sebring silver paint, is a 1996 Chevrolet Corvette Collector’s Edition. It is part of a special edition of about 5,000 made to send the C4 era off with a celebration. He has owned it about 7 months and has put about 10,000 miles on it. Modifications to the car include replacement of the water pump, a new radiator, new spark plugs and wires, a K & N air filter, new radiator hoses, alternator and battery. He lowered the rear end by a couple of inches as well as a muffler delete. Future plans include some performance upgrades. Tyler wants to port the heads out and do a little more aggressive cam but nothing to crazy.
I asked Tyler if this is his dream car. He said, “It is definitely one of my dream cars. The C4 has always been my favorite corvette generation and the only thing that could top mine would be a Grand Sport or ZR-1 model.” Anyone who reads my blog knows that the Corvette is my dream car. This is an awesome car!
I asked him if he has a favorite place to drive. Tyler said, “Riverside Drive is one of my favorite places to cruise especially at night. There is just something about it that I love. On a nice sunny day I love taking it on some of the nice curves and hills out in Indian Mound and Woodlawn area. Ghost Bridge across the state line in Kentucky is also a good place to cruise to.”
