Full Throttle Thursday- @daltonlea

Dalton Lea is a member of the Clarksville Gearhead Car Club. I asked him what he likes about being a member. He said, “I like that the car scene here is so diverse and structured, back in Louisiana it’s nothing like that. We’d pretty much meet up to race when people would call each other out. So it’s nice to get together with people who have a passion for cars.”

Dalton owns a 2011 Camaro 2SS/RS, which he has owned for 2 years. He also owns a 1972 Chevrolet K5 CST Blazer that he has owned since high school. The blazer is his baby, it broke the month before he left for basic training in 2016 and he never got around to getting it up here from Louisiana. It has a built and cammed 355 sbc, the first motor he ever built, and a turbo 400 transmission. Dalton hopes to get it up here this year and restore it back to pristine condition. The Camaro is bolt-on with his own 93 tune and nitrous coming soon. The car has seen some changes over the years. Five months ago he did a LS3 conversion and stroked the original 6.2 L99 to a 416 stroker. As his luck would have it, it dropped a valve about a month ago. However, he did get lucky and the block survived. He is currently building a new engine for the Camaro that should be done by the end of the week. We will all have to wait and see what motor he puts in!

I asked Dalton if this is his dream car. He said, “As iconic as both my vehicles are they are not my dream vehicles. My dream vehicle is a 1987 Buick GNX! Why? G-bodies are my favorite platform. The fact that they only made 547 GNX’s makes them rare. Also, the fact that it was the fastest American, fastest accelerating production car in the world in 1987 and was until the viper made a statement. It also only came in the color black which is my favorite vehicle color.” Where are his favorite places to drive? He said, “I like to drive through LBL (Land Between the Lakes), especially to the buffalo enclosure, down the Trace, Dyers Creek in Dover and Boswell Campground on Kentucky Lake.”

Dalton was born and raised about 45 minutes south of Lafayette, Louisiana. His family is full of car enthusiasts and speed demons. Dalton’s great uncle has a junkyard and when he was in high school he would spend a lot of time there working on stuff. The oil industry crash of 2015 pushed him to enlist in the Army and he ended up at Ft. Campbell in 2017. Dalton met his wife in Murray, Kentucky, got married and they have 3 children. He fell in love with the area and decided to stay when he got out of the service in 2020. Dalton also has a business which is called Leas Performance Option. Go over to his Facebook page and give him some love!

If you would like to follow Dalton on Instagram, his name is daltonlea or Leasperformanceoption. Thank you Dalton for participating in our Full Throttle Thursday blog! On behalf of all the dolls, thank you for your service! Join me each week to meet a new vehicle owner and their vehicle.
