Lukus Rockwood and the Hooptey

This week’s spotlight features Lukus Rockwood and his car Hooptey. When Lukus was in high school his parents moved to Clarksville. He didn’t want to move at that time so he stayed back and with the help of his grandfather rebuilt his car from the ground up. Lukus finally moved to Clarksville in his junior year of high school.

Lukus’ car is a 2001 Monte Carlo SS that he calls Hooptey. He plans on making it into a drag car in the future. Is this your dream car? Lukus says, “My dream car, when I make it big is an Ashton Martin db11.” I hope you make that dream come true!

I asked Lukus what he likes about being a member of the Clarksville Gearheads. He said, “I love how supportive the people are--such as discussing what you’ve done to your car and you can be unique without criticism.”

Lukus’ mom is also a member of the Gearheads and I will try to get an interview with her in the near future! He has several favorite places to drive his car. He likes to cruise around Clarksville in Sango, Ft. Campbell, and Wilma Rudolph Blvd.

If you would like to follow Lukus and the Hooptey on Instagram, their name is @Lukus_rockwood

Thank you Lukus for participating in our Full Throttle Thursday blog! Join me each week to meet a new car owner and their car.
