This week’s blog features our very own Gearhead member Terry Sleeper. I asked Terry what he likes about being a member. He said, “The guys and gals are all great here. They tend to help everyone out when they need it including myself. They’re just a great bunch of people!”
Terry’s car, Envy which is what he calls it, is a 1957 Chevy Handyman. It has a 383 engine, turbo 400 transmission, and 4/11 gears. It used to be a Southwestern Bell car; it was white with a yellow and blue bell on the door. Now it is a gorgeous emerald green. It has air conditioning, power windows, power steering, and power brakes. His grandkids love it! Modifications include a different radiator, dual fans, and the power windows. Everything else including the power brakes and disc brakes was done when Terry got it. His future plans are to not get rid of it. The car was a present bought for him about 3 years ago by his father in law, wife and kids. The whole family enjoys the car and loves attending various events around town. I asked him if he had a favorite place to drive. Terry said, “I like to drive Lake Road in Woodlawn. There’s no traffic.”
Terry is originally from Lawton, Oklahoma. He moved here in 1999 to help his father in law, who was gone with the military, take care of his mother in law.
I asked Terry if this was his dream car. He said, “Yes, this is my dream car. My first car was a 57 Chevy and this is a 57 Chevy.” I asked him what he likes about the local car scene. He said, “I like hanging out with everybody and having a good time!” You will see Terry at most of the Gearheads events. He always has a smile on his face and a kind word to say to everyone.
Thank you Terry for participating in our Full Throttle Thursday blog!
Join me each week to meet a new vehicle owner and their vehicle.
